Luke Molyneux earned a point for Sunderland on his return from a knee injury as they drew 1-1 with Hull City at Eppleton Colliery Welfare Ground.

The 19-year-old, who had been out with a knee injury since November, came off the bench to equalise in the 84th minute.

Hull went ahead after the break thanks to Keane Lewis-Potter's close-range finish.

Deon Moore almost doubled the lead with a bullet header that was well saved, before Molyneux netted with minutes remaining.

Sunderland finish Group H in third place, while Hull City are fourth, as both teams end their PL Cup campaign.
