Derby loss leaves progress in balance

Rhian Brewster scored a stunning volley to set Liverpool on their way to a 3-0 win over PSV Eindhoven in their last Group A match at Tranmere.

Brewster scored from 20 yards in the 11th minute and then set up Harry Wilson for the second.

Cameron Brannagan hit the bar with a second-half penalty before PSV's Maxime Soulas was shown a second yellow card.

Matty Virtue then scored the third to leave Liverpool topping the group on six points, three ahead of Newcastle United, Sparta Prague and PSV.

The Magpies meet PSV in the final match next month and that will decide who reaches a quarter-final stage made up of the six group winners and the two best runners-up.
