Alan Pardew has been appointed the new head coach of West Bromwich Albion.
The 56-year-old succeeds Tony Pulis at The Hawthorns with West Brom two places and two points above the bottom three.
His first match in charge will be at home against his former club Crystal Palace on Saturday.
"The immediate challenge will be to get the results we need to pull ourselves up the table," he told the club's official website.
"But I'm aware that while I'm joining one of the great, traditional clubs of English football, it is one determined to go forward in the Premier League. It's an exciting opportunity to play a part in that ambition."
Pardew, who is joined by his former assistant at Newcastle, John Carver, has won 108 of his 302 Premier League matches as a manager for four clubs: West Ham United, Charlton Athletic, Newcastle United and Palace.
With Pardew's arrival, West Brom announced the exit of Gary Megson, who took charge after Pulis's departure.
