Callum Paterson scored a hat-trick as Cardiff City fought back three times to draw 3-3 with Blackburn Rovers in Premier League Cup Group B.
Joe Nuttall put Rovers ahead in the second minute with his 10th goal of the season after Daniel Butterworth's shot had been parried.
Paterson headed his first leveller from a 17th-minute free kick, but Butterworth restored Blackburn's lead just after the interval.
Paterson equalised again at the back post and Bluebirds keeper Lee Camp then denied Nuttall a second when saving his penalty.
Nuttall did put Rovers ahead again in the 87th minute but Paterson rescued a point for the visitors with a header in stoppage time.
In their next PL Cup fixtures, Cardiff entertain Southampton on Thursday 2 November and Blackburn visit Watford four days later.
Rovers' next Premier League 2 fixture is away to Brighton & Hove Albion next Monday.
