Brighton and Hove Albion and Newcastle United cancelled each other out in a goalless draw in Premier League 2 Division 2 at Crawley.

The Seagulls' best chances arrived after the break with midfielder Max Sanders hitting the bar before striker Henrik Bjordal had an effort cleared off the line.

Stefan O'Connor came closest for the Magpies but Brighton goalkeeper Bailey Vose blocked his effort.

The Seagulls move up to sixth in the table, a point and a place behind Newcastle.

Both teams are back in action next Monday, with Brighton travelling to Aston Villa and Newcastle at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers.
