EA SPORTS Player of the Month shortlist
Yasin Ayari (Brighton & Hove Albion)
P4 W1 D2 L1 G2 A2
Two goals and two assists in four games for the midfielder who has quietly established himself as a key player for Brighton head coach Fabian Hurzeler. Featured in his impressive month was a stunning, powerful top-corner strike against Fulham and another arrowed into the bottom corner in the win over Burnley. The Swede also set up Kaoru Mitoma to score the equaliser in a draw with Manchester City and assisted Pascal Gross in the 1-1 against Everton.
Patrick Dorgu (Man Utd)
P4 W2 D2 L0 G2 A1
In a strong field, Dorgu was the standout player in Man Utd’s resurgence under head coach Michael Carrick. The Dane was phenomenal in the derby victory against Man City, battling all over the pitch and scoring the second goal to secure the result. He then netted a screamer in a 3-2 win against Premier League leaders Arsenal that inflicted the Gunners’ first league defeat at Emirates Stadium this season. Dorgu also provided an assist in the draw with Burnley before Carrick started as Man Utd went unbeaten in the Premier League in January.
Enzo Fernandez (Chelsea)
P5 W3 D1 L1 G3 A1
The central midfielder is not renowned for his goalscoring but began 2026 with a red-hot streak. Fernandez started the month with a stoppage-time equaliser against Man City and concluded it with a stoppage-time winner against West Ham United. He is thriving under new head coach Liam Rosenior – unbeaten in the Premier League since the 41-year-old took over.
Junior Kroupi (Bournemouth)
P5 W3 D1 L1 G3 A0
For brief spells the 19-year-old has been level with Barcelona superstar Lamine Yamal as the teenager with the most goals in Europe’s big five leagues in January. His three last month – including a stunning 20-yard strike against Arsenal and an even better half-volley versus Wolverhampton Wanderers – made his total eight for the season (one behind Yamal) and softened the blow of losing top-scorer Antoine Semenyo to Man City during the transfer window. Kroupi's performances contributed to victories against Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool and Wolves – Bournemouth only losing to leaders Arsenal all month.
Crysencio Summerville (West Ham United)
P5 W2 D0 L3 G3 A0
The winger hadn’t scored in the Premier League all season until he netted three in each of West Ham’s last three league games of January. West Ham may have lost three times, but two wins – against Spurs and Sunderland – finally gave the club hope that they might still have a chance to avoid relegation. Summerville opened the scoring to set West Ham on their way to the victories, and put them two ahead against Chelsea before Rosenior’s side came back to win.
Igor Thiago (Brentford)
P5 W2 D1 L2 G5 A0
The Brazilian added a further five goals to his Premier League tally, taking it to 16 for the season, as he attempts to chase down Erling Haaland in the race for the Coca-Cola Golden Boot. All of Thiago's goals came in two matches: a hat-trick against Everton and brace versus Sunderland, his contribution pivotal in Brentford’s two league wins last month as they continue to defy expectations in the hunt for a European place.
Harry Wilson (Fulham)
P5 W2 D2 L1 G3 A0
A second successive EA SPORTS Player of the Month shortlist for one of the most in-form forwards in the country. January wasn’t quite as fruitful as Wilson's six goal involvements the previous month, but he produced late winners against Chelsea and Brighton, as well as scoring in the 2-2 draw against former his former team Liverpool. The 28-year-old was the key player again in another impressive month for Fulham in which they only lost once in the league and climbed towards the European qualification places.
Florian Wirtz (Liverpool)
P6 W1 D4 L1 G3 A1
Wirtz is showing signs of the influential superstar he was bought to become at Liverpool. Arne Slot’s side are still not quite in their winning groove but Wirtz scored in draws with Fulham and Burnley, and scored and assisted in the dominant 4-1 win against Newcastle United.
