When Mark was involved in a serious motorbike accident, the life-changing injuries he suffered left him in a dark place.

"It certainly broke me down," he said. "I became empty from it all."

But the former soldier, who served in the Armed Forces for 12 years, became involved with the Saints Foundation and its SaintsAbility programme.

The initiative, supported by the Premier League & BT Disability Sport programme, offers regular football sessions for people of all ages with a wide variety of impairments.

And last month, Mark captained the Foundation's Pan Disability side as they travelled to Austria to compete in the International SNT Disability Cup in Vienna.

"To be selected as captain filled me with pride," he said. "It was nice to say to my family and friends: 'I have still got something in me, I still have a purpose.'"
