Sunderland have signed Simon Adingra from Brighton & Hove Albion.
The winger, 23, has agreed to a five-year contract and becomes the club's sixth addition this summer following their promotion from the Championship.
"The Club and the project are really exciting. I spoke with everyone and their interest in me made the decision easy," Adingra said on Sunderland's club website.
Adingra's career so far
Adingra was born on 1 January 2002 in Abobo, Ivory Coast.
He began his career with the Right to Dream academy in Ghana before moving to Danish side Nordsjaelland in January 2020.
Adingra then spent two-and-a-half years in Denmark before signing for Brighton in the summer of 2022.
But they sent him out on loan for the 2022/23 season with Royale Union Saint-Gilloise in Belgium.
Adingra then returned to England and spent two seasons with the south coast club where he made 73 appearances, scoring 12 times and providing five assists.
With Ivory Coast, Adingra has been capped 14 times so far and was part of the squad that won the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations. He also provided both assists in the 2-1 win against Nigeria in the final.
When could Adingra feature for Sunderland?
Adingra's first match for Sunderland could come in pre-season against Gateshead on 12 July.
Sunderland then start their 2025/26 campaign at home to West Ham United on 16 August.
