Brighton & Hove Albion have officially secured the signing of Charalampos Kostoulas from Greek champions Olympiacos.
The 18-year-old forward's move to Brighton marks a significant step in his burgeoning career.
Brighton head coach Fabian Hurzeler said, “Charalampos is an outstanding young player and we’re delighted he is coming to Brighton.
“He wants to play in the Premier League and we are excited about what he can bring to the team.
“He will give us different attacking options and we’re looking forward to helping him adapt to his new environment.”
Kostoulas enjoyed a remarkable breakthrough campaign in the 2024/25 season, his first in the Greek Super League.
The young starlet scored seven league goals, including one in the playoffs, and won a Super League Player of the Month award in December 2024 - an impressive feat for a teenager during his debut campaign in top-flight football.
Kostoulas' career so far
Born on 30 May 2007 in Athens, Kostoulas comes from a footballing family.
He is the son of former Greek international Athanasios Kostoulas, and his 20-year-old brother Konstantinos Kostoulas spent the 2024/25 season with Portuguese side Rio Ave, on loan from Olympiacos.
Charalampos began his youth career with AS Agia Anna, before joining the Olympiacos academy in 2019. There, he quickly made a name for himself, helping his team secure Greece's Under-15 title.
The forward's impressive development earned him a first professional contract in September 2022.
In addition to domestic success, he also lifted the UEFA Youth League trophy with Olympiacos.
Kostoulas made his senior debut for Olympiacos on 17 August 2024 in a Super League match against Volos NPS, contributing to a 2–0 victory.
He went on to play a role in the first team’s title-winning campaign, as Olympiacos were crowned champions of Greece for the 2024/25 season.
On the international stage, Kostoulas represented Greece’s Under-17 national team from 2022 to 2023, earning eight caps and scoring once.
He made his debut with the Under-21s against Slovakia on 11 October 2024, when he came off the bench and marked the occasion with a goal in his side's 2-1 defeat.
While Kostoulas is yet to make his senior debut for Greece, his rapid development suggests it may only be a matter of time, especially if he makes an early impact in the Premier League with Brighton.
When could Kostoulas first play for the seagulls?
Kostoulas is expected to feature in Brighton’s pre-season fixtures, which include friendlies against Southampton on 2 August and Wolfsburg on 9 August.
