Jeremie Frimpong has the potential to be a top pick in 2025/26 Fantasy Premier League.
The Dutchman is set to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold as Liverpool’s new right-back after joining from Bayer Leverkusen.
As evidenced by his displays for the German side, Frimpong’s offensive qualities are key to his appeal.
The 24-year-old racked up 14 goals and 12 assists across 47 appearances in all competitions in 2023/24, as Xabi Alonso guided Leverkusen to a historic unbeaten domestic double.
Frimpong provided a further five goals - all of them in the Bundesliga - and 12 assists in 48 matches last season.
No FPL defender scored more than five goals in the Premier League last season.
Frimpong's underlying stats from 2024/25 offer further encouragement, with the defender's 34 shots and 30 key passes in the Bundesliga highlighting his all-round threat.
He registered not far off three times as many Expected Goals (xG) as the man he is replacing in 2025/26.
Alexander-Arnold v Frimpong comparison
Alexander-Arnold | Frimpong | |
League appearances | 33 | 33 |
---|---|---|
Shots | 45 | 34 |
Shots in the box | 13 | 30 |
xG | 1.88 | 5.16 |
While he isn’t a set-piece taker, Frimpong still produced 94 crosses from open play. For context, only three Bundesliga defenders attempted more.
A pacy, direct threat, who has the capacity to dribble past opponents in the attacking third, Frimpong’s ability to play higher up the pitch could see him provide cover for Mohamed Salah, who will miss a chunk of Liverpool’s 2025/26 season if he is selected for Egypt’s Africa Cup of Nations campaign.
Furthermore, Liverpool’s backline should rack up plenty of clean sheets, having secured 14 Premier League shutouts in 2024/25, more than any other side.
So, with huge points potential at both ends of the pitch, Frimpong could be a standout option in FPL next season.
