More than 11.5million people took part in 2024/25 Fantasy Premier League, the most in the game's 23-year history.
It delivered in style, with a total of 31,291 points, 426 double-figure hauls, 1,081 goals scored, 978 assists and 2,401 bonus points.
An all-time high of 26.6million chips were played, including records for the Wildcard and Triple Captain. But in the end, it was largely about one player - Mohamed Salah.
The Liverpool star collected more points in 2024/25 Fantasy than any player ever before in a single campaign. His final total of 344 didn't just break the record, it smashed it by an incredible 41 points.
Top five points totals in a season
Player | Season | Pts |
---|---|---|
Mohamed Salah | 2024/25 | 344 |
Mohamed Salah | 2017/18 | 303 |
Luis Suarez | 2013/14 | 295 |
Frank Lampard | 2009/10 | 284 |
Cristiano Ronaldo | 2007/08 | 283 |
Salah also set records for bonus points and double-digit returns, became the fastest player to reach both 150 points and 200 points, and earned a place in the Team of the Season for the eighth time - yet another record.

His success made him the default captain choice, handed the armband a whopping 139,874,652 times in total by managers across the 38 Gameweeks.
The Egyptian is the only person to have delivered 200+ points in eight different campaigns. What's more, he's done it consecutively. During his eight years at Liverpool, Salah has averaged an incredible 261 points per season.
He now ranks third in terms of lifetime points amassed in Fantasy with 2,119, having overtaken Steven Gerrard's tally of 2,044 in Gameweek 25.
He needs another 220 points to reach the summit and eclipse Wayne Rooney's mark. Based on his career so far, that could happen next season.
Benefiting from bonus points
Crucially, Salah's 344-point total included 55 bonus points - a record in Fantasy. He picked up extras in 21 matches, gaining the maximum on 11 occasions. Only Wolverhampton Wanderers' Matheus Cunha received all three bonus points in a match on more occasions, with 12.
Despite his outstanding career in Fantasy, this was the first time Salah had surpassed 29 bonus points over a season. He clearly benefited from the tweaks to the Bonus Points System (BPS) ahead of 2024/25 and, in particular, the addition of shots on target. He racked up 59 such attempts, the joint-most, level with Erling Haaland, earning him 118 BPS points.

Equalling his personal best for a Gameweek
Double Gameweek 24 saw Salah produce the best score of the campaign - and equal his best ever Gameweek return in Fantasy - as he earned 29 points in his pair of matches against AFC Bournemouth and Everton.
He was Triple-Captained by a season-high 1,088,115 managers for those games, rewarding them with 87 points with the chip. No player has ever delivered such a big points haul after being Triple-Captained in such large numbers.
For those who missed out on that bumper haul, he immediately came close to matching that score, racking up 20 points - or 60 with the chip - in Liverpool's Double Gameweek 25 encounters with Wolves and Aston Villa. Some 613,000 managers Triple-Captained him for those two matches, which also ranked among the top five ever for use of the chip in a Gameweek.

Mohamed Salah | GW25, 24/25 | WOL (H), AVL (A) | 613,880 | 20 |
It was Cole Palmer, though, who recorded the most points in a single match this season, striking four goals past Brighton & Hove Albion in Gameweek 6 for a 25-point return.
Starting the season with a bang
It's easy to forget, following Salah's unprecedented campaign, that the first player to set a new record in 2024/25 was Erling Haaland.
In fact, Haaland set two of them, becoming both the most-expensive player in history, with a starting price of £15.0m, and having the most points ever after five Gameweeks, notching 63.
With Palmer, Haaland and Salah getting off to flying starts, Gameweek 14 saw all three captained by more than 2m managers, the first time that had happened to three different players in the same Gameweek.
It was also perhaps a turning point in the season. Salah tallied 211 points from that moment onwards, while Palmer added another 114 points and Haaland only 95, the 14th and 38th highest totals respectively.
Best buys
Aside from Salah, the one name that should have been in all our Gameweek 1 teams was Bryan Mbeumo. The Brentford midfielder was the best-value player based on starting prices, yielding 33.7 points per million spent.
Best-value players 2024/25 (starting price)
Player | Starting price | Pts | Value (ppm) |
---|---|---|---|
Bryan Mbeumo | £7.0m | 236 | 33.7 |
Matz Sels | £4.5m | 150 | 33.3 |
Chris Wood | £6.0m | 200 | 33.3 |
Morgan Rogers | £5.0m | 161 | 32.2 |
Nikola Milenkovic | £4.5m | 145 | 32.2 |
Mbeumo came second in the Fantasy player standings on 236 points, an improvement of 109 points on last season.
Yet the Cameroon international didn't have one truly outstanding period of form.
His best eight-match run between Gameweeks 3 and 10 delivered a relatively unspectacular 61 points, placing 15th overall. By comparison, in Salah's best eight-match spell between Gameweeks 11 and 19, he totalled 109 points.
Instead, consistency was Mbeumo's great strength. He started every game for Thomas Frank's side, registering an attacking return in 21 of those matches.
Nottingham Forest players exceeded expectations, with three of their players featuring in the best-value table above.
Matz Sels topped the goalkeeper standings for much of the season, only to be pipped at the post by Jordan Pickford. The Belgian kept 13 clean sheets, the joint-most along with David Raya, and earned an assist when Wood scored directly from his pass against Leicester City in Gameweek 9.
Sels was one of six goalkeepers to provide assists in 2024/25 Fantasy. Ederson placed first with an impressive four, the most ever by goalkeeper in a single campaign.
Debutants and improvers
Along with Jorgen Strand Larsen, Forest's Nikola Milenkovic had the best debut season of any player. The pair each totalled 145 points.
Strand Larsen combined 14 goals with four assists and 17 bonus points, while defender Milenkovic notched 20 returns thanks to five goals, two assists and 13 clean sheets. Surprisingly, Milenkovic only collected two bonus points across his 37 outings. Nine more and he would have been the top-scoring defender in Fantasy.
If it hadn't been for Salah, Morgan Rogers would have been the most-improved player in Fantasy. The Villa midfielder added 126 points to his 2023/24 showing, courtesy of an extra five goals and 10 assists, as he became a mainstay in Unai Emery's starting XI.
Salah, for the record, improved on his total from last season by 133 points.
New high for chips played
More chips were played in 2024/25 than ever before.
This wasn't solely down to the introduction of the Assistant Manager chip, which became available in Gameweek 24.
Use of the Triple Captain chip went up by 100,000 compared with the previous high, while usage of both Wildcards also surged - the first Wildcard especially, jumping up 12.7 per cent to surpass five million.

Wildcard 2 | 4.39m | 4.31m (2023/24) |
The final 10 Gameweeks of the season also proved busier than usual, with nearly 123m transfers made.
This represents a remarkable three-fold increase from 2017/18 Fantasy.
