The Scout highlights the opportunities available for managers who have the Assistant Manager chip active in Gameweek 38 of Fantasy Premier League.
It’s important to note that activating the Assistant Manager chip in Gameweek 38 would mean you CANNOT use another chip at the same time.
Who is the best Assistant Manager for Gameweek 38?
If you are one of the 188,000 Fantasy managers who activated their Assistant Manager chip in Gameweek 36, there is now just one Gameweek remaining to earn more points.
On top of that, more than 100,000 managers activated the chip either in Gameweek 37 or so far ahead of Gameweek 38. So, who is the best pick for Gameweek 38 fixtures?
There are two tactics to consider with the Assistant Manager chip.
You can pick a club from the top of the table with a favourable fixture - a tactic which is more reliable but has a lower ceiling for points.
Alternatively, you can target managers from clubs who can earn table bonus - a riskier approach which has a greater ceiling.
You can see the eight clubs (in bold below) whose manager can earn table bonus against a team who are ranked at least five places higher in the Premier League table at the start of the Gameweek.
Gameweek 38 fixtures
Bournemouth v Leicester
Fulham v Man City
Ipswich v West Ham
Liverpool v Crystal Palace
Man Utd v Aston Villa
Newcastle v Everton
Nottingham Forest v Chelsea
Southampton v Arsenal
Spurs v Brighton
Wolves v Brentford
Iraola the most reliable pick?
Targeting the three relegated teams; Leicester City, Ipswich Town and Southampton, has proven to be a fruitful strategy for Fantasy managers playing the Assistant Manager chip.
In Gameweek 38, Bournemouth host Leicester, making Andoni Iraola (£1.1m) a strong option.
The Cherries' head coach showcased his Fantasy potential in Gameweek 35, returning 18 points against Arsenal.
As well as picking up the six points for a win, Iraola should have the chance to pick up some extra goal and clean-sheet points.
Opponents Leicester rank bottom for Expected Goals (xG), with a score of 32.49, and third-bottom for Expected Goals Against (xGA), with 71.65, over the course of the season.
Bournemouth, meanwhile, have only lost two of their last seven matches and rank comfortably in the top half for xGA in that time.
Arteta versus Southampton?
Mikel Arteta (£1.5m) is another reliable option to consider, with Arsenal travelling to Southampton on the final day.
The Gunners come into Gameweek 38 off the back of an impressive victory against top-five chasing Newcastle United and have lost just once over their last 11 matches.
In the reverse fixture, Arsenal beat Southampton 3-1; a repeat of that scoreline would see Arteta earn nine Fantasy points.
No team have scored fewer goals (25) and conceded more (84) in 2024/25 than Saints.
It's unlikely these numbers will improve against an Arsenal side that rank first for xGA over the course of the season, with 34.45.
Pereira the best for table bonus?
As mentioned previously, eight managers can collect table bonus in Gameweek 38.
The standout option is undoubtably Vitor Pereira (£0.8m), who is eligible for table bonus when Wolves face Brentford at Molineux.
Since the Portuguese took charge of the club for the first time in Gameweek 17, only two teams have conceded fewer shots on target (74), while Wolves have picked up an impressive 32 points to comfortably secure Premier League safety.
Pereira has demonstrated his ability to pick up table bonus twice this season, producing 20 and 19 points against Aston Villa and Bournemouth respectively.
He is one of only five managers to do this on multiple occasions.
Oliver Glasner (£0.8m) deserves a mention, given no manager has picked up more Fantasy points than the Austrian's 119, with 39 of those coming over the last four Gameweeks.
Although a trip to Anfield will be a challenge for Palace, Liverpool have lost twice and are yet to win since being confirmed as champions. In that time, no team has conceded more xG than the Reds' 7.91.
Finally, Ange Postecoglou (£1.1m) will no doubt take plenty of feelgood factor back to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after Wednesday night's UEFA Europa League triumph for Spurs' winnable encounter with Brighton.
So, who is the best pick for Gameweek 38?
For Fantasy managers looking to play it safe in the final round of matches, Iraola and Arteta should enjoy success against Leicester and Southampton respectively.
If you are chasing in your mini-league or are looking to a take a risk in the name of a big green arrow then Pereira is the best manager with table-bonus potential.
