It was a landmark day at Villa Park when Willian came on as a second-half substitute for Fulham.
The 36-year-old Brazilian was making his 326th appearance in the Premier League.
This made Willian the South American player with the most Premier League appearances, overtaking Antonio Valencia, the Ecuadorian, who featured for Wigan Athletic and Manchester United.
The former Chelsea and Arsenal winger left Fulham while on 317 Premier League appearances last summer, but after a short spell at Olympiacos earlier this season, Willian returned to Craven Cottage in February on a short-term deal.
His nine appearances since, seven of which have come off the bench, have put him in top spot among 321 South Americans who have graced the competition.
