For Ricardo Patino the prospect of visiting his beloved West Ham United was a distant dream.
Living some 5,420 miles away in Cartago, near San Jose, the Costa Rican Hammers fan never thought he would get the chance to visit the club he fell in love with 15 years ago when watching Paulo Wanchope on TV.
But this month Ricardo finally made it to the London Stadium.
"It is a day I have been waiting more than a decade for," he told whufc.com following a chance meeting while asking for directions.
"I had always wanted to go to Upton Park, and couldn’t afford it, but on a trip to Europe I had one free night, so I decided to put my money on a flight to London.
"I didn’t want to see Buckingham Palace, I had time just for one thing, and I wanted to see our stadium!"
