The quality of education at Premier League Academies has been recognised by England's governing body for education.

Ofsted, the office for standards in education, children's services and skills, gave an "Outstanding" rating, the highest available, to the Academies of all 20 Premier League clubs.

With the support of the Premier League's Education and Welfare team, Ofsted audited the apprenticeship programmes delivered by the clubs by visiting them in March 2017.

Its report stated that Academies provide apprentices with an exceptionally high-quality learning environment, aided by access to highly qualified coaches, medical and performance staff.

"An Ofsted Outstanding rating is testament to the excellent work carried out by Premier League club Academies to develop better home-grown players who are well rounded young people on and off the pitch," said Premier League Director of Football Development, Ged Roddy.

"Clubs have invested significantly to ensure that players have educational opportunities that complement their football development, and welfare provisions in place that make Academies safe and welcoming environments that encourage youngsters to flourish."

Ofsted looked at all aspects of the education, coaching, welfare, safeguarding and personal development programmes delivered by clubs as part of the Advanced Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence (a programme delivered by the clubs to 16-18-year-old scholars).

It also said that the League gives apprentices excellent opportunities to expand their knowledge of different countries, cultures and religions, enabling them to develop and demonstrate high levels of respect for others.

The League's commitment to supporting young people extends beyond the clubs' outstanding work in Academies to communities and schools across England and Wales.

The League and its clubs recently launched Premier League Primary Stars, a project that aims to support the teaching of maths, English and PE in 10,000 schools across the country by 2019.
