What are Amorim's top five priorities at Man Utd?

Manchester United have announced that Ruud van Nistelrooy has left the club along with other members of the coaching staff.

The 48-year-old arrived this summer as an assistant to Erik ten Hag, and then became interim head coach at Old Trafford when the Dutchman departed on 28 October.

A statement on their website read: "Manchester United can confirm that Ruud van Nistelrooy has left the club.

"Ruud rejoined in the summer and has taken charge of the team for the past four matches as interim head coach.

"Ruud is, and always will be, a Manchester United legend.

"We are grateful for his contribution and the way in which he has approached his role throughout his time with the club. He will always be very welcome at Old Trafford.

"Rene Hake, Jelle ten Rouwelaar and Pieter Morel have also departed and we wish them all well for the future.

"We will confirm the full men’s first-team coaching composition in due course."

Van Nistelrooy's spell as interim

Van Nistelrooy enjoyed a successful spell during his brief time in charge.

Following Ten Hag's departure, Van Nistelrooy oversaw four matches across all competitions and won three of them while drawing the other.

He also recorded Man Utd's biggest home league win of the season, a 3-0 victory against Leicester City which was his final match in charge.

Amorim arrives

Today marks Ruben Amorim's first day in charge of Man Utd following his appointment from Portuguese side Sporting.

The 39-year-old arrives on the back of several impressive seasons in charge of Sporting, where he guided them to a first league title in 19 years in 2021 and then another last season.

Amorim was greeted outside Man Utd's Carrington training ground with a hug from chief executive Omar Berrada, and was also welcomed by sporting director Dan Ashworth and technical director Jason Wilcox.

Amorim will meet key staff, in advance of being able to start work once his visa is obtained.

He will then take charge for the first time on Sunday 24 November when Man Utd travel to Ipswich Town.

Man Utd currently sit in 13th place, only four points off Chelsea in third.
