Manchester City midfielder Rodri has been named the UEFA Euro 2024 Player of the Tournament.

Rodri was forced off at half-time of Sunday's 2-1 victory over England in the final but starred throughout the tournament, leading Spain to the nation's fourth European Championship trophy.

“It’s unbelievable, this is a dream and now we are the best national team in the Euros, it is crazy,” Rodri told ITV afterwards.

“This is about how humble we have been all these years to keep working and never lose the faith, and this tournament come on, we beat four World Cup champions, how tough was it, just unbelievable."

Rodri also praised former City team-mate Cole Palmer, who equalised for England.

"I know these guys, Cole Palmer is a top player. He's going to be a huge star in the next years.

“He put it in the corner and in that moment we suffered a little bit, but this tournament we showed something different and we overcome this situation so it was great."

Since the start of 2023, Rodri has won more trophies (eight) than he has lost matches (four).

It caps an incredible season for Rodri, who also guided Man City to a fourth consecutive Premier League title, a year after helping them win the Treble in 2022/23.
