The popularity of the Premier League reached new heights in the United States for the 2023/24 season, with record-breaking coverage from NBC Sports.

The thrilling campaign in which the title race went down to the final day was watched by record numbers in the States.

Last weekend’s “Championship Sunday” - featuring all 10 matches simultaneously - was the most-watched season finale in US history, with a "Total Audience Delivery" (TAD) of 2.9million viewers across NBC's streaming service Peacock and networks of NBCUniversal.

Indeed, NBC Sports averaged a TAD of 546,000 viewers per TV match window this season, an increase of four per cent from 2022/23, and beating the previous best of 541,000 in 2015/16.

Six of the seven most-watched Premier League matches in US history also came in 2023/24, led by the 0-0 draw between title rivals Manchester City and Arsenal in March, the first English language-only fixture to top 2m viewers (2.12m).

In its fourth full season of streaming live Premier League matches, Peacock drew a record audience of 1.15m viewers for a match when Liverpool visited Arsenal on 5 March, topping the million-mark again when 1.1m tuned in to watch the Manchester derby.

For the season, eight Peacock exclusive matches averaged at least 800,000 viewers, quadrupling numbers from 2022/23.

US fans, including Greek-Nigerian basketball star Giannis Antetokounmpo and country singer Chase Rice, are also getting involved in record numbers on social media and in person, too.

The NBC Sports Soccer accounts (@NBCSportsSoccer) across Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram finished the 2023/24 season showing huge increases too. Video views more than doubled from the previous year, with a massive 122 per cent increase, while overall engagement rose by 79 per cent.

For the second consecutive Premier League season, the NBC Sports YouTube channel also finished with more 200m views and 1.4billion minutes watched.

The Premier League Mornings Live fan festival on April 6-7 in Nashville featured a record attendance, with more than 15,500 supporters joining Olympic gold medallist Mo Farah, WWE’s Sheamus Farrelly and Premier League record goalscorer Alan Shearer to enjoy the festivities.

Nashville was the ninth Premier League Mornings Live event in the US, following on from Washington D.C., New York, Boston, Austin, Miami Beach, Los Angeles, Philadelphia and Orlando. To date almost 90,000 fans have attended the events.
