The Scout’s MUST-HAVES for Blank Gameweek 29 in FPL

With only FOUR Premier League fixtures taking place this weekend in Blank Gameweek 29, a host of Fantasy Premier League managers will be using their Free Hit chip to navigate the reduced schedule.

Indeed, 340,000+ managers have already activated the chip, the second-most this season after 365,953 used it in Blank Gameweek 26.

FPL expert Gianni Buttice is among those using his Free Hit and picking a brand new squad solely for this weekend's matches. Here, he reveals his current line-up and explains his choices.

Gianni Buttice's BGW29 Free Hit team
Thomas Kaminski (Luton) £4.5m

Predicting a clean sheet feels too tricky this week, so I’m looking for a goalkeeper who will pick up save points and do well in the Bonus Points System.

Pedro Porro (Spurs) £5.7m

He shares set-pieces and is therefore more of an assist threat than fellow full-back Destiny Udogie (£4.9m). Tottenham Hotspur were impressive defensively at Aston Villa on Sunday, although not many go to Craven Cottage and keep a clean sheet, so we might be relying on an attacking return for points against Fulham.

Sergio Reguilon (Brentford) £4.4m

Hopefully available to play, he is a goal threat in this Brentford system, playing high and wide. Reguilon hit the post and looked very bright against Chelsea in Gameweek 27.

Mads Roerslev (Brentford) £4.4m

Scored against Chelsea a couple of weeks back and is given licence to get forward when Brentford play with a back five.

Son Heung-min (Spurs) £9.9m

He's the easiest pick of the 15. My only concern is that Fulham away doesn’t scream of a Son-style fixture - and his record against Fulham isn’t great.

James Maddison (Spurs) £8.0m

He's encouraged to get forward by Ange Postecoglou and looked the sharpest we have seen since his injury in Sunday's 4-0 win at Villa Park.

Jarrod Bowen (West Ham) £7.9m

Can always pop up with a big FPL score out of nowhere, just as he did against Brentford in Gameweek 26 where he racked up 20 points. Playing against Villa’s high line could benefit him.

Morgan Gibbs-White (Nott'm Forest) £5.7m

Luton Town will always give you chances, and I’m backing Nottingham Forest to score. If I don’t go for Gibbs-White it will be for another Forest attacker.

Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa) £9.0m

Villa’s talisman is an easy pick.

Ivan Toney (Brentford) £8.1m

Outside of Son, he is the only other player I am considering for the captaincy. Toney hasn’t scored in the last few matches, but this fixture could be really kind to him.

Carlton Morris (Luton) £5.2m

Luton at home are always fun and Morris feels like the most reliable option.

Substitutes
James Trafford (Burnley) £4.5m

A Burnley clean sheet feels unlikely, but he will have lots to do.

Alfie Doughty (Luton) £4.7m

He could very well move into my starting XI. The chief creator at Luton, he's in my regular team and I'll keep him in my squad on my Free Hit.

Leon Bailey (Aston Villa) £5.7m

Lack of 90 minutes is always the concern, but he has formed a good partnership with Watkins and can be very explosive on his day.

Alex Moreno (Aston Villa) £5.2m

Dropped against Spurs, I expect him to come back into the starting line-up, but a one-point cameo is possible.
