The Scout assesses the best way to invest in the two clubs who have a Double Gameweek 28 (DGW28) in Fantasy Premier League.

AFC Bournemouth

Bournemouth have a very favourable DGW28 on the horizon that particularly lifts the prospects of their attackers.

The Cherries play at home to both Sheffield United and Luton Town before their Blank Gameweek 29 (BGW29).

Both those sides rank among the worst for conceding goals in away matches in 2023/24, with 30 and 29 respectively.

There’s no real surprise, then, that Dominic Solanke (£7.1m) is the most-bought player ahead of Saturday’s 11:00 GMT deadline, with more than 251,000 managers rushing to bring in the forward.

Solanke has matched his career-high haul of 130 points in his first season under Andoni Iraola, scoring 14 goals and supplying three assists.

His form hasn’t been overly impressive recently, though, with one goal and two assists in the last four Gameweeks. Nonetheless, Solanke’s 20 points in that spell is still a team-leading total.

The Cherries' forward is dealing with a knee issue, though, and hasn't trained this week. Head coach Andoni Iraola revealed that a late decision will be made on his involvement versus the Blades on Saturday.

Antoine Semenyo (£4.5m) and Lewis Cook (£5.0m) are the only other Cherries players to be involved in more than one goal in those last four Gameweeks.

Having recently returned from the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) with Ghana, Semenyo has started each of the last three Gameweeks.

He scored against Newcastle United and Burnley, averaging 5.7 points per start (PPS) compared with the 5.0 pps of Solanke in the last four matches.

Cook, meanwhile, recorded his season-high haul of 12 points at Turf Moor last weekend, supplying both assists in the 2-0 win.

Who has had the greatest goal threat?

Assessing the Bournemouth players over the last four Gameweeks, Solanke’s 12 shots, 10 shots in the box and four big chances are all team-leading totals.

The statistics also highlight the major goal threat of midfielder Marcus Tavernier (£5.4m), who place second to Solanke for all three of those categories.

Indeed, his 28.5 minutes per shot is marginally quicker than the forward’s 29.9 minutes in those four matches.

Semenyo, Justin Kluivert (£4.6m) and Ryan Christie (£5.0m) are all tied on five shots, with the former’s five shots in the box the best of the trio.

Player Shots Shots in box Big chances Mins/shot
Solanke 12 10 4 29.9
Tavernier 11 7 2 28.5
Semenyo 5 5 0 57.2
Kluivert 5 3 1 41.0
Christie 5 2 0 61.8
Who has been the most creative?

Solanke and Tavernier also occupy the top two spots when it comes to creativity.

The pair are tied on seven key passes each, with Tavernier having the slight edge for big chances created, by two to one.

Christie, Semenyo and Cook also feature in the assessment, although it’s fair to say the latter has been somewhat fortunate to collect two assists from only four key passes.

Bournemouth's top creators, GW22-27
Player Key passes Big chances created Minutes per key pass
Tavernier 7 2 45.0
Solanke 7 1 51.0
Christie 5 0 62.0
Senesi 4 1 67.0
Semenyo 4 1 72.0
Cook 4 1 90.0
So, who are the best Bournemouth players to own?

Solanke’s statistics highlight his all-round potential for goals and assists. Now owned by over 25 per cent of managers, the forward looks set to make a strong challenge for the captaincy in DGW28.

With a BGW29 immediately afterwards, though, investment is best kept to a minimum unless you are planning to Free-Hit to deal with the reduced round of matches.

Tavernier’s numbers certainly show promise and indicate he could be worth considering particularly for those managers who plan to “dead-end” their squads ahead of a Wildcard around Gameweek 30.
