Alexis Sanchez (£11.5m) is poised to be the leading Fantasy Premier League captaincy candidate with Arsenal facing a pair of Gameweek 36 fixtures.

One of only two teams to play twice, the Gunners host Manchester United on Sunday before travelling to Southampton in midweek, affording the Chilean the opportunity to improve a run of only one goal in his last six Gameweeks.

Still the top-scoring player in FPL, Sanchez has struck double-digit hauls on eight occasions this season and has earned 100,000+ new owners since Saturday’s deadline.

Mesut Ozil (£9.4m) approaches the Double Gameweek as Arsenal’s form attacker, with two goals and a pair of assists in the last six Gameweeks.

But those goals came from just three shots, compared with 16 from Sanchez over the same spell.

Saints are the other team to offer two fixtures, with a weekend trip to Liverpool preceding their head-to-head against the Gunners.

Claude Puel’s side have struggled for goals of late, scoring only three times in the last four Gameweeks.

But with six goals and an assist in eight appearances across all competitions, Manolo Gabbiadini (£6.5m) offers their main goal threat – the Italian striker has averaged 4.7 points per match since arriving in January.

A host of in-form single-Gameweek players provide viable captaincy alternatives for FPL managers.

Subject to more transfers in than any player in the Gameweek, Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus (£8.8m) returned to the starting XI with a goal against Middlesbrough last weekend.

With team-mate Sergio Aguero (£12.8m) ruled out through injury, the Brazilian has been drafted in by more than 147,000 FPL managers.

Jesus, who has scored four times in as many Gameweek starts, is set to face a home match against a Crystal Palace defence with one clean sheet in their previous seven away matches.

Meanwhile Tottenham Hotspur trio Harry Kane (£11.7m), Christian Eriksen (£8.9m) and Dele Alli (£9.2m) will also battle for armband attention away to West Ham United.

Kane has delivered seven goals and three assists in his last five outings and scored a brace and 13 points against the Hammers back in Gameweek 12.

The explosive Eriksen has returned 10 sets of double-figures this season, while Alli’s Gameweek 35 opener against Arsenal extended a run that has delivered points in eight of his previous nine Gameweeks.

Elsewhere, Chelsea duo Eden Hazard (£10.5m) and Diego Costa (£10.4m) are appealing options as they host Middlesbrough

Boro have conceded four times in each of their last two away matches and have shipped 12 goals over the last six Gameweeks – more than any other side.

The pair go into Monday night's encounter in outstanding form. Hazard has produced a goal or assist in seven of his previous eight outings, while Costa’s 16-point tally in the Blues' last home match against Southampton was his best of the season.

Remember the deadline for Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 36 is at 7pm BST Friday 5 May
