With Ollie Watkins (£8.5m) and Jarrod Bowen (£7.6m) injury doubts for Gameweek 14 in Fantasy Premier League, The Scout provides advice on what managers should do ahead of Saturday's 13:30 GMT deadline.

In his press conference on Friday, Aston Villa head coach Unai Emery provided an update on Watkins ahead of Sunday's visit to AFC Bournemouth, after the forward missed Thursday's 2-1 win over Legia Warsaw in the UEFA Europa Conference League.

“He’s going to be a doubt for Sunday. We are adding other players, like Jhon Duran, Zaniolo and Jacob Ramsey, who is getting more minutes," Emery told the club's official website.

“He’s not completely unavailable for Sunday. We are going to wait for tomorrow and see if we can take a risk with him or not.

“We will see how he feels about facing the demands in 90 minutes we are going to face on Sunday.”

What The Scout says

"Doubts over the fitness of Watkins for Gameweek 14 suggests his 43 per cent owners should seek out a short-term replacement.

"Villa’s trip to Bournemouth is one of three matches they will play over six days, also facing tough matches against Man City and Arsenal.

"Liverpool’s Darwin Nunez (£7.6m) has the schedule and goal threat to reward immediate investors.

"Jurgen Klopp’s side face Fulham, Sheffield United and Crystal Palace in the next three Gameweeks.

"Nunez’s 21 shots and 10 shots on target are both league-high totals in the last four Gameweeks.

"Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak (£7.4m) has made an immediate impact on his return from injury, scoring in back-to-back matches against Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain, and provides another alternative.

"Four of the Magpies’ next six matches score only two in the Fixture Difficulty Ratings (FDR), indicating Isak can be worth the risk of an occasional benching."

Moyes coy on Bowen's fitness

Meanwhile, West Ham United manager David Moyes gave little away regarding Bowen's prospects of recovering from the knee problem that has kept the winger out of the Hammers' last two matches in all competitions in time to face Palace on Sunday.

"Jarrod had his injury so he’s one of the ones we’ll see on," said Moyes on the club's official website.

"I’ll pick up with the medical team on him and see what they feel, and we’ll take a look at him this afternoon too."

What The Scout says

"With midweek matches returning next week to Fantasy in Gameweek 15, the quick turnaround in fixtures means Bowen owners should be looking for a replacement.

"West Ham’s short-term schedule remains kind, though, and Mohammed Kudus (£6.6m) has two double-figure hauls in three matches as an alternative.

"Nonetheless, it’s Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo (£7.0m) who looks the best option. He faces three of the four sides who have yet to keep a clean sheet this season in the next three Gameweeks."
