It proved to be a weekend of despair for Fantasy Premier League managers, with so few of their players returning points in the 10 matches.

Indeed, the average score of an FPL manager in Gameweek 11 was only 32 points!

That is 12 points below the previous lowest average in a Gameweek this season: 44 points in Gameweeks 2, 3, 5 and 8.

Just under 40 per cent of managers owned Son Heung-min (£9.6m) ahead of the Gameweek's final match on Monday when Tottenham Hotspur hosted Chelsea.

While they were left disappointed - Son returned only two points as nine-man Spurs lost 4-1 - the 4.3 per cent of managers who stuck with Chelsea's misfiring forward Nicolas Jackson (£6.8m) had their faith repaid.

Jackson netted a hat-trick and finished with a season-best 16 points, including a maximum bonus, his first double-figure haul of 2023/24.

Erling Haaland (£14.0m) was the overwhelming captain favourite for Manchester City's enticing home encounter with AFC Bournemouth, gaining 2 million armbands compared with the previous round.

Man City produced their biggest win of the season with a 6-1 victory, but Haaland was withdrawn at half-time with an ankle injury, having failed to register an attacking return. His one-point score was his lowest of the campaign.

There was frustration, too, for the 139,000+ who entrusted Haaland's team-mate Julian Alvarez (£7.2m) with the captaincy. The Argentinian failed to muster a return for the second successive match, despite creating four chances and having two shots against Andoni Iraola's side.

Haaland 6.49m 1
Salah 1.61m 2
Watkins 314,231 2
Son 266,435 2
Alvarez 139,588 2

Those who went against the Man City pair were hoping they can take full advantage, with attention turning to Mohamed Salah (£12.9m) and Ollie Watkins (£8.4m).

Salah and Watkins both played on Sunday, with Liverpool traveling to Luton Town and Aston Villa visiting Nottingham Forest, but both players blanked, each returning only two points.

The 266,000+ who captained Son, whose total of 72 points since being moved up front by Ange Postecoglou in Gameweek 4 remains the most of any player in Fantasy, will hope that he has better luck when Spurs kick off Gameweek 12 at Wolverhampton Wanderers this Saturday.

Who have the top managers captained?

Most of the top 100 managers also shared the pain of Haaland's blank, with 66 of them giving the armband to the Norwegian.
