Why the players were nominated

Yago Alonso: The 20-year-old midfielder, who joined Spurs from Celta Vigo in 2019, played a big part in his side extending their perfect start to the PL2 season after being involved in four of their eight goals in October.

Tawanda Chirewa: Signed for Wolverhampton Wanderers earlier this summer from Ipswich Town, Chirewa scored in each of their wins against Leeds United and Southampton.

Jamie Donley: He's been at Spurs since the age of eight, and has represented the club at each youth level. Donley produced an outstanding display in Spurs' 4-2 win over rivals Chelsea as he scored twice, including an 87th-minute strike, to turn the match in their favour.

Lewis Koumas: The son of former Wigan Athletic and West Bromwich Albion midfielder Jason Koumas scored twice in Liverpool's 4-2 win against Crystal Palace at the start of October.

Mateusz Musialowski: The Poland forward scored in each of Liverpool's October matches, including the equaliser in a 2-2 draw against Leeds in which the Reds were 2-0 down.

Callum Marshall: September's Player of the Month winner Marshall continued his excellent start to the season by scoring a hat-trick in West Ham United's 5-0 win against Middlesbrough.

Ademola Ola-Adebomi: At Palace since the age of eight, the forward scored the opening goal against Liverpool before netting a brace in a 3-0 win over West Brom. Ola-Adebomi earned a spot on the bench in Palace's 1-0 win against Manchester United in September and 0-0 draw with Nottingham Forest in October.

Charlie Wellens: Though he started his career in Man Utd's Academy, Wellens has excelled since joining Reading after his contract with the Red Devils expired this summer. His two goals and an assist in Reading's 7-2 win against Blackburn earned his side their fifth win of the season.
