Sheffield United have announced the signing of Gustavo Hamer from Coventry City.

The 26-year-old Dutch midfielder puts pen to paper on a four-year contract and will wear the No 8 shirt. He is Sheff Utd's sixth arrival of the summer transfer window.

"I still can't believe it, playing in the Premier League is every little boy's dream and I'm going to be doing it with Sheffield United, a massive club," Hamer told the club's official website.

"I've played here before with Coventry and I remember the song when the players walk out, it's amazing, thrilling."

Hamer, a Brazilian born midfielder, moved to the Netherlands as a child and started his career with Feyenoord.

He made his Eredivisie debut in 2017 against Ajax before joining FC Dordrecht on loan the following season. After that he joined PEC Zwolle before signing for Coventry in 2020.

Across his three seasons with the Midlands club, Hamer played 132 times in all competitions and scored 19 goals.

Sheff Utd start their Premier League campaign at home to Crystal Palace later today.
