The 2023/24 season officially kicks off on Friday, bringing with it another year of incredible action on NBC Sports and plenty of PL mornings for American fans.

The inaugural match of the Premier League season takes place Friday afternoon when Burnley hosts Manchester City at Turf Moor.

Pep Guardiola’s side is coming off a treble-winning season, and will now look to become the first club to win the Premier League four years in a row.

After only one season in the Championship, Burnley has returned to the PL with Manchester City legend Vincent Kompany at the helm. The Clarets stormed their way to first place last season and now will look to solidify their position as a PL club this year. A major first test awaits with the reigning champions on Friday.

Sunday features a battle between two heavyweights looking to improve upon seasons that didn’t meet expectations with Chelsea welcoming Liverpool to Stamford Bridge.

The Blues finished in 12th last season, one of the lowest PL finishes in club history. With several new player signings and Mauricio Pochettino coming in as manager this offseason, there’s growing optimism that Chelsea will return to their normal heights this year. A strong surge at the end of the season couldn’t help Liverpool fully overcome early season woes and the club narrowly missed out on a top-four finish.

Now the Reds will hope multiple key additions in the offseason will help them fight for the title once again. This opening match will be a strong litmus test for both sides.

Two resurgent clubs looking to put their stamp on the top levels of the Premier League will play on NBC on Saturday afternoon when Newcastle and Aston Villa square off at St. James’ Park.

Eddie Howe’s side smashed into the top four last season and now Newcastle will look to build on that with another impressive season.

Under Unai Emery, Aston Villa had a meteoric rise up the table, finishing in seventh after being in 15th when he took over. Qualifying for European competition for the first time since 2010, the Villans are looking to go nowhere but up in the new season.

When these two sides met in Philadelphia for the PL Summer Series it was a thrilling 3-3 affair, a potential preview of the sparks that will fly in Matchweek One.

The Premier League is back with a bang. Watch all of the weekend's action unfold with NBC, USA and Peacock.
