The Scout's panel of Fantasy Premier League experts reveal which players they will be looking for first when prices are revealed for the 2023/24 game.

What the experts say
Harry Daniels (@FPLHarry)

Marcus Rashford is a player I am very excited to learn the price of. Manchester United are yet to find a long-term solution to their striker problems so we may see Rashford deployed centrally as he was at times last season.

The Brighton & Hove Albion assets offered great value for us last season and I am interested to see exactly how much of a price increase they will get. A lot of managers will be looking at Kaoru Mitoma and Julio Enciso, but Evan Ferguson could have a strong campaign and still start with a reasonably affordable price tag.

As an Arsenal, fan I cannot wait to see the price rises for their assets. My favourite double-up of Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli could be a challenge to fit in this season, especially if Saka is priced at £9.0m and Martinelli at £8.0m, as I expect.

If John Stones is still classified as a defender for 2023/24 and keeps playing in midfield, it could be another John Lundstram story. He may well be priced at £6.0m, though.

Chelsea players are likely to be underpriced due to a poor 2022/23. The Blues have great fixtures to start with and I'm keen on seeing what Reece James's price will be, given how attacking Mauricio Pochettino's full-backs usually are.

Kieran Trippier's points dried up in the second half of the season and with Newcastle having UEFA Champions League commitments this time around, I'm prepared to overlook him if he receives a significant price hike.

Ben Crabtree (@FC_CrabDogg)

Erling Haaland will be the first pick for most teams, but I'm interested to see if his sky-high price makes it worth considering going without him. It's just a case of how high will it be?

I'll also be paying close attention to Haaland's team-mate Kevin De Bruyne. I think he should be dropping down a bit to the in-between area above mid-price and below premium. If that happens, he could be a great alternative to Haaland.

Holly Shand (@HollyShand)

I'm most intrigued by Trent Alexander-Arnold's price among defenders after he flourished in the inverted wing-back role at the end of last season. Hopefully he remains a defender in the game!

Harry Kane is also one of my top Gameweek 1 targets given his consistency last season. It will be interesting to see his price for this campaign compared to Haaland, as they were on an equal footing last time around.

Lee Bonfield (@FPLFamily)

With Kai Havertz now at Arsenal, Chelsea will look to new signing Christopher Nkunku to fill the void. A hefty transfer fee means expectations will be high - and so should his game time. Chelsea's early-season fixtures look good so a price around £8.5m to £9.0m might be enough to persuade some managers to bring him in.

After seeing significant, defensive improvement under Unai Emery, I'm backing Aston Villa to have another good season. Alex Moreno caught my eye last campaign. With regular game time, he could add to his clean-sheet points with attacking returns. If he is £5.5m or below, he could be in my Gameweek 1 squad.

Sam Bonfield (@FPLFamily)

Under Ange Postecoglou, Son Heung-min could see a revival. Postecoglou's use of the wing-backs in a more central role should give Son both the space and service he needs to thrive. With the injury that plagued him during 2022/23 cleared up, I think he could be back on the agenda for FPL managers if he takes a price drop. I'm hoping to see him priced around £9.5m to £10.0m.

I am also keen on Martinelli. He was a fantastic enabler last season and he offered way more than that. He was a player who could be started every Gameweek and regularly returned FPL hauls. His form in 2022/23 means he deserves a big price rise, and I'm expecting £8.0m to £8.5m. He would still be worth that additional cost.

Gianni Buttice (@GianniButtice)

With Cody Gakpo playing as Liverpool’s No 9 for the second half of 2022/23, I expect him to be reclassified as a forward at a price point of £8.0m.

I’m also expecting lots of price drops at Chelsea after a terrible season. James could be a great pick if he’s back to full fitness. I’m predicting he will drop to a very attractive £5.5m.

Andy Park (@FPLSonaldo)

Son is coming off a difficult campaign, but he was carrying a long-term injury and underwent minor surgery this summer. I'm hoping to see him priced around £9.5m which would make him a very popular pick this season!

If Gabriel Jesus is priced at £8.0m or £8.5m he would be hard to ignore. Even with Havertz coming into the fold, Arteta has shown he heavily trusts his starting XI, so I do feel his starts are somewhat assured.

As a Man Utd fan, I think the defence always tends to get overlooked. If David De Gea ends up leaving, I expect us to concede far fewer big chances as we get better at playing out from the back. Lisandro Martinez could be an interesting budget option if he is priced as such.

With Ilkay Gundogan's departure and De Bruyne's fitness problems at the end of last season, I am really intrigued by Phil Foden's minutes through the middle. I think that's where his long-term position is at Man City. I'm very keen to see his price.
