Owners of Erling Haaland (£12.4m) in Fantasy Premier League should consider handing the captaincy to Mohamed Salah (£13.1m) or Harry Kane (£11.4m) for the final Gameweek of 2022/23.

Manchester City’s bid for a treble is likely to impact Pep Guardiola’s starting XI against Brentford on Sunday.

After being benched against Chelsea last weekend, Haaland played the full 90 minutes at Brighton & Hove Albion on Wednesday.

This suggests he could be named among the substitutes at Brentford, with an FA Cup final against Manchester United and a UEFA Champions League final against Inter Milan still to come in the next two weeks.

Haaland’s recent form certainly makes the decision to overlook him a little easier.

FPL points last four matches
Player Goal Assists Points
Salah 2 4 38
Eze 3 1 32
Kane 4 0 30
Odegaard 3 0 29
Haaland 1 1 15

He has managed a mere 15 points in his previous four outings, scoring once and supplying an assist.

By contrast, Salah and Kane have produced at least double that output, recording 38 and 30 points respectively.

Salah visits relegated Southampton on the back of two goals and four assists in Liverpool’s last four matches.

Tottenham Hotspur’s Kane, meanwhile, has scored four goals in his previous four appearances ahead of a trip to Leeds United.

Eberechi Eze (£5.7m) and Martin Odegaard (£6.8m) also have the form and fixtures to end the campaign on a high.

Crystal Palace’s Eze has 32 points in his last four matches and hosts Nottingham Forest, while Odegaard has 29 points in the same period ahead of Arsenal’s home encounter with Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Attacking stats last four matches
Player Shots Shots in box Shots on target Big chances Chances created
Rashford 18 10 8 4 6
Fernandes 16 7 4 1 15
Haaland 15 13 4 6 2
Wilson 13 13 5 7 5
Salah 13 11 5 4 10
Kane 8 5 6 4 4

Despite his fairly minimal recent output, Haaland ranks among the top three players in Fantasy in their last four matches for both shots and shots in the box.

His 13 shots in the box are matched by Newcastle United's Callum Wilson (£7.2m), who has scored twice in each of his last three away starts and visits Chelsea on Sunday afternoon.

Meanwhile, Salah easily has the edge over Kane here, producing more than twice the number of shots in the box and key passes.

Man Utd pair Marcus Rashford (£7.2m) and Bruno Fernandes (£9.5m) are the only players to record more shots than Haaland, with 18 and 16 respectively.

Nonetheless, with a top-four place now secured, and an FA Cup final to follow next weekend, rotation may well limit their minutes for the Red Devils’ home meeting with Fulham.

Overall, Salah's potential for goals and assists makes him the standout pick, with his hosts Southampton already relegated on the back of five straight defeats.

While Kane's all-round threat hasn’t been overly impressive of late, he looks set to exploit Leeds' need to attack in a match they must win to stand any chance of avoiding relegation.
