The Scout is tipping five players to produce big points in Gameweek 27 of 2022/23 Fantasy Premier League.

James Ward-Prowse (SOU) £6.3m

The playmaker offers strong all-round potential for Southampton’s Double Gameweek 27 against Manchester United and Brentford.

Ward-Prowse has scored five of Saints’ seven goals since the season resumed after the FIFA World Cup 2022, claiming double-figure hauls against both Everton and Chelsea in that run.

That goal total is joint-top among all Double Gameweek 27 players, level with Brighton & Hove Albion pair Kaoru Mitoma (£5.5m) and Solly March (£5.1m), along with Brentford’s Ivan Toney (£7.7m).

The underlying statistics show Ward-Prowse’s huge influence on Saints’ attack.

His 11 shots on target and 23 chances created are both more than three times the total of any team-mate from Gameweek 17 onwards.

Over the course of the season, Ward-Prowse has scored six goals and supplied two assists.

As shown by the new Expected Goal Involvement (xGI) data in Fantasy, Ward-Prowse has been unfortunate not to have set up more goals this season.

His tally for Expected Assists (xA) is 3.73, placing him joint-14th among midfielders.

That is identical to the xA total of Leicester City’s James Maddison (£8.1m), yet the Foxes' playmaker has managed five FPL assists, while Fulham’s Andreas Pereira (£4.4m) has racked up 10 assists from an xA of 3.74.

Expected Assists 22/23
Player xA Rank FPL assists
Pereira 3.74 13 10
Maddison 3.73 =14 5
Ward-Prowse 3.73 =14 2

Ward-Prowse’s delivery from free-kicks and corners lifts his potential for assists in Double Gameweek 27.

Both his opponents have struggled to defend such situations recently.

Man Utd and Brentford are among the bottom four sides for headed shots conceded since the season resumed, with 31 and 29 respectively.

When that factor is added to his goal threat, Ward-Prowse has the all-round threat to emerge as a key player for Double Gameweek 27.
