Second-half goals from Fred and Bruno Fernandes inspired Manchester United to a 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur that lifts them up to fifth in the table.

Fred's deflected strike shortly after half-time put the home side in front and Fernandes swept in a second to seal an impressive victory.

Nunez off the mark at home

Darwin Nunez scored his first Anfield goal as Liverpool made it back-to-back wins with a 1-0 victory over West Ham United.

The Uruguayan headed in to put Liverpool in front and Alisson's penalty save to deny Jarrod Bowen on the stroke of half-time proved crucial.

Liverpool move up to seventh on 16 points while West Ham are in 13th with 11 points.

Chelsea held by Brentford

Graham Potter's 100 per cent record as Chelsea head coach came to an end as his side played out a goalless draw at west London rivals Brentford.

The Bees have only lost one of their six home matches and sit in ninth with 14 points. Chelsea stay fourth on 20 points.

Almiron inspires Newcastle once again

Miguel Almiron scored his fourth goal in as many matches as sixth-placed Newcastle United moved to within two points of the top four with a 1-0 win over Everton

The Paraguayan curled in superbly to consign Everton to a third straight defeat that leaves them in 15th on 10 points.

Saints edge south-coast derby

Che Adams' early header earned Southampton a first victory in six matches as they won 1-0 at south-coast rivals AFC Bournemouth.

The forward's third goal of 2022/23, combined with a first clean sheet of the season for Ralph Hassenhuttl's men, moves Saints up to 14th on 11 points, two behind 11th-placed AFC Bournemouth.
