We are looking at the 25 nominees who have been shortlisted for the Premier League Hall of Fame in 2022.

The six players with the most combined votes from the fans and a Premier League Awards panel will enter the Hall of Fame. Fans had their say by voting up until 21:00 BST on Sunday 3 April.

Vincent Kompany

Signed from Hamburg in 2008, Kompany was at the heart of Manchester City's journey from mid-table to the top in 11 years at the Etihad Stadium.

The Belgian made the centre-back spot his own, combining pace, power and composure. As captain, he lifted the Premier League Trophy four times.

The first of those title wins came in 2011/12, with Kompany named Player of the Season. He kept 15 clean sheets in 31 matches and scored a crucial winner against title rivals Manchester United in late April.

He continued his habit of contributing pivotal goals, netting in the final-day title-winning victory over West Ham United in 2013/14, and scoring a wonder goal against Leicester City in their penultimate match of 2018/19, setting them up to edge ahead of Liverpool and take the crown.

Such was Kompany's influence, the club erected a statue of him in August 2021.

What they said

"When one guy is with the same club for 10 years it's because he is something special. Vincent helped this club achieve so much before I came and when I arrived here, we tried to do it together along with all the other people to try and maintain that position and create new history. His spirit has been incredible" - Pep Guardiola

"Looked after me from day one. Led by example, showed everyone what it means to be a leader, wear their heart on the sleeve, and give everything for this club." - Phil Foden

"The best defender I've played against in my career would be Vincent Kompany. I think he's just a beast of a human; he's fast, strong and a great leader." - Troy Deeney
