Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has agreed a new contract until 2024, with the option of a further year.

Solskjaer, who took the role on a permanent basis in March 2019 following a spell as caretaker, guided United to second in the Premier League last season and the UEFA Europa League final.

The Norwegian, who this week completed the signing of exciting winger Jadon Sancho, is looking forward to continuing the steady progress at Old Trafford.

"It’s exciting. I’m very happy to be trusted to be a part of it," Solskjaer told the club's official website.

"For me there are loads of things in the offing, I think we’re looking at plans for training grounds, we’re planning of course for work at Old Trafford and you want to be part of that.

"The last few years we’ve improved and we just want to take the next step.

"The progress is there and I feel the squad is in a much better place and I think we’re gradually getting there by just what we’re doing every single day.

"We haven’t got a trophy to show for it, but I think we feel stronger and ready for the next challenge."
