Erik Lamela's sensational "rabona" finish against Arsenal has been voted March's Budweiser Goal of the Month.

The Tottenham Hotspur midfielder swung his left foot around his right and shot through the legs of Thomas Partey to score the opening goal of the north London derby at Emirates Stadium.

Lamela says he didn't realise the brilliance of his goal at the time and that the "rabona" finish has always come natural to him.

“In the moment I didn’t think too much, I just started running and celebrating the goal - I was very emotional," he told Spurs' official website.

"Sometimes I kick the ball like this in training, but it's not something I really train. Since I was young I've shot like this, so for me it's normal!"

Lamela is the first Spurs player to win the award since Son Heung-min earned both the December 2019 Goal of the Month and the 2019/20 Goal of the Season prizes for his dazzling solo effort against Burnley.

He is only the second Argentinian to claim the award, following Manuel Lanzini's stunning long-range strike for West Ham United against Spurs in October this season.

Lamela's goal was chosen by a panel of experts combined with a public vote, beating seven other contenders.
