Kazeem Olaigbe's second-half strike proved decisive as Southampton edged past Derby County to secure their first Division 1 win in three matches.
Olaigbe converted at the back post three minutes after half-time.
The victory took Southampton up to 11th on 15 points, although they dropped back to 12th after Monday's matches, while Derby have fallen to seventh on 23 points.
