Fernandes inspired a comeback win at West Ham United as a half-time substitute, registering an assist. He then scored twice and set one up in the 6-2 victory over Leeds United, before being involved in all three of his side's goals against Leicester City and Wolves.

Emiliano Martinez (AVL)

Martinez kept a league-high four clean sheets in December and made 22 saves, a tally only beaten by four goalkeepers. Seven of those stops came in the 1-0 win at Wolves, the first of four successive shutouts. The only goal he conceded during the month was to Chelsea's Olivier Giroud.

Ben Mee (BUR)

Burnley’s captain was pivotal in three clean sheets, while the Clarets conceded just once in each of their other three matches. The centre-back also headed in the winner against Sheffield United, his first home PL goal since January 2015.

Marcus Rashford (MUN)

The Manchester United attacker scored the joint-most goals in December, with five. This included one in the 3-1 success over West Ham, a superb double at Sheff Utd and a stoppage-time winner at home against Wolves.

Mohamed Salah (LIV)

Salah matched Rashford’s five goals in the month to lead the Golden Boot race with 13. He produced a goal and an assist versus Wolves, netted against Fulham and Tottenham Hotspur, and came off the bench to score twice and set up a goal in a 7-0 win at Palace.

Tomas Soucek (WHU)
P6 W1 D3 L2 G3 A0

The midfielder showed his impressive eye for goal by scoring three times. He put West Ham in front against Man Utd, equalised in a 2-1 win at Leeds and headed in a late leveller versus Brighton & Hove Albion.

John Stones (MCI)
P4 W3 D1 L0 G0 A0 CS4

The centre-back played four of Manchester City’s five matches in December, and they didn’t concede a single goal with him on the pitch. That fine run included a 0-0 draw against Man Utd and a 1-0 success at Southampton.
