Despite naming his team after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£11.6m), tennis player Daniil Medvedev is not about to let sentiment get in the way of his Fantasy Premier League dreams.
“My team name in Russian means ‘terrible Aubameyang’ but in a good way, like scary Aubameyang who is going to score a lot of points," says the fourth-highest ranked men's tennis player in the world.
"But that hasn't been the case so far! I really like him as a player, so hopefully he can score more, but unfortunately for my team I have already sold him!"
Medvedev won the 2020 ATP Finals in London last weekend, and he told the latest FPL Show on Friday how he plays Fantasy while competing in tournaments across the globe.
He is now hoping Liverpool players can help him rise up the FPL rankings just like he has done in tennis.
"I am kind of a high-risk, high-reward player," he explains. "I could take [Bruno] Fernandes but all of my friends have him. I've taken [Mohamed] Salah and [Sadio] Mane so I've decided to go for full Liverpool attack.
"In previous seasons I was always finishing in the top 300,000, maybe 500,000. But this season is really terrible for me, like I have bad luck or I am choosing a bad team. I cannot break one million!
"I remember last year that Magnus Carlsen was doing really well. One day I want to be there so people can talk about me also as a good Fantasy manager.”
Any thoughts on my players? Tell me... 😂👍 These are the guys I believe in right now!! @vguaita13 @jamesjustin98 @BenChilwell @pvanaanholt @maxkilman @JackGrealish @SMane_Officiel @MoSalah #olliewatkins @CheAdams_ @CalvertLewin14 @premierleague @OfficialFPL pic.twitter.com/wNthXos3RD
