The Scout's panel of experts give their verdict on who managers should captain ahead of the Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 9 deadline of 11:00 GMT on Saturday 21 November.

What the experts say
Utkarsh Dalmia (@zophar666)

Bruno Fernandes (£10.6m) against West Bromwich Albion is the standout pick. Timo Werner (£9.4m) is also a decent shout against a poor Newcastle United side.

Sam Bonfield (@FPLFamily)

I'm really torn. Harry Kane (£11.0m) has a good record against Manchester City and has 12 goals and 10 assists in only 15 matches this season.

But I am tempted to captain Fernandes following his haul in Gameweek 8. Even Manchester United's lack of home wins doesn't put me off as that needs to end at some stage. This seems like the perfect match for the midfielder to produce his first big home haul of the season.

Geoff Dance (@GeoffreyDance)

Sadio Mane (£12.0m) has attacking returns in five of his last six Gameweeks, averaging 8.4 points per match in that period. In a Gameweek when very few will be captaining Liverpool players, 10.7 per cent-owned Mane is my choice.

Fernandes is my planned captain. I'll be transferring him in and giving him the armband straight away as he has the combination of form and fixtures.

Lee Bonfield (@FPLFamily)

A good week for a calculated gamble. The Gameweek after the international break is often an unpredictable one, so I'm going for the man in form for club and country, Jack Grealish (£7.5m).

Aston Villa will look to take advantage of a Brighton & Hove Albion side who play out from the back and often struggle against high-pressing teams.

Ben Crabtree (@FC_CrabDogg)

I'll keep it on Werner. Newcastle can easily concede a few against a good team and he's in excellent scoring form.

Neal Thurman (@nealjthurman)

I'm sticking with Kane because I don't have Fernandes in my line-up. If I owned both, I would probably favour the Portuguese.

Paul Gee (@FPLPaulGee)

My planned pick, Mohamed Salah (£12.3m), is a doubt, so it throws the captaincy up in the air. Normally I only captain Fernandes away but this week is an exception.

Holly Shand (@FFCommunity_)

There's only one contender and that’s Fernandes. He has both the form and the fixture. We will see Man Utd back to scoring plenty of goals at Old Trafford this weekend.
