Chelsea have announced they are giving free accommodation to National Health Service (NHS) staff at Stamford Bridge's Millennium Hotel during the coronavirus pandemic.

The initiative has come from club owner Roman Abramovich, who will be covering the costs of health workers using the rooms.

Chelsea chairman Bruce Buck has contacted the NHS, who have accepted the offer.

A club statement said: "Many of the medical staff will be working long shifts and may not be able to travel home or would otherwise have to make long commutes.

"Local accommodation helps maintain the health and well-being of these crucial personnel at this critical time."
