Southampton are aiming to bounce back from defeat at West Ham United last time out and keep Newcastle United behind them in the table. 

The Magpies are one place and two points behind Saints but have not won since Matchweek 23.

Team news

Danny Ings and Moussa Djanepo are in contention for Southampton, who will be without Will Smallbone (illness) and Stuart Armstrong (concussion). Nathan Redmond (muscle) remains sidelined for Saints.

Newcastle's Allan Saint-Maximin will be assessed but is expected to be fit, while Javier Manquillo is a doubt. The Magpies otherwise report no fresh injury concerns.
