FPL Wildcard targets: Mohamed Salah

For managers who are considering playing their second Wildcard in Fantasy Premier League, The Scout suggests targets to consider.

Sadio Mane (LIV) £12.2m

Nearly two million managers who have transferred out Mane could soon live to regret ditching the Liverpool midfielder.

After picking up an injury in a 2-1 win at Wolverhampton Wanderers last month, Mane was moved on by more than 1.6 million owners for the next two matches.

A further 161,000 have transferred him out for Gameweek 27.

Fitness and fixture boost

But Mane has now returned to training ahead of the Reds’ trip to Norwich City on Saturday evening.

Although the FPL deadline for their encounter with the Canaries has passed, Liverpool’s subsequent schedule suggests their key attackers can bring in big points hauls.

With their visit to Carrow Road followed by meetings with West Ham United, Watford and AFC Bournemouth, the leaders face four of the bottom five clubs in successive matches.

Mini-league differential

Mane has averaged 6.7 points per match (ppm) this season, second only to the 7.5ppm of his team-mate Mohamed Salah (£12.8m) among FPL midfielders.

Yet while Salah occupies 45.3 per cent of squads, Mane’s ownership has plummeted to just 20.1 per cent.

That highlights Mane's appeal as an ideal alternative for the captaincy for managers hoping to make ground in mini-leagues over the upcoming period.
