Team news

Ashley Barnes and Ashley Westwood (both groin) could be in contention for Burnley, and may be joined in the squad by Phil Bardsley (knock). Jay Rodriguez (broken finger) is available to play.

But Charlie Taylor (hamstring) remains a doubt for the Clarets, who continue to monitor Johann Gudmundsson (hamstring) and Kevin Long (hip).

Newcastle's Allan Saint-Maximin (hamstring) is sidelined along with Ciaran Clark, Matt Ritchie, Jamaal Lascelles and Ki Sung-yueng.

Jonjo Shelvey (calf) and Miguel Almiron (hamstring) are doubtful and will be assessed.

Burnley have lost only one of their last six home league meetings with Newcastle (W4 D1), although that defeat came in this fixture last season.

This will be the seventh Premier League meeting between Burnley and Newcastle but the first to take place at the weekend, with the others coming on each day of the week between Monday and Thursday.

Newcastle are looking to win three consecutive Premier League matches for the first time since November 2018. Head coach Steve Bruce has not won three in a row in the competition since January 2009 with Wigan Athletic.
