The fans’ vote was combined with those of a panel of football experts to decide the winner.
Howe led AFC Bournemouth to their first win at Southampton as the 41-year-old's team went unbeaten with eight goals scored to end September in eighth.
The winner of the August award extended Liverpool's perfect start to the season with three wins out of three, including at Stamford Bridge. The defeat of Sheffield United last time out was their 16th Premier League victory in a row.
Lampard's entertaining Chelsea team scored eight goals in the month. Five came in a win at Wolverhampton Wanderers before the head coach earned a first home win, against Brighton & Hove Albion.
After suffering a narrow first defeat of the season at Manchester United, Rodgers' Leicester City earned a comeback win against Tottenham Hotspur and a 5-0 victory over Newcastle United. The last was their biggest Premier League win and lifted them to third.
