Thanks to the Premier League Kicks programme Huddersfield Town are working with their local Muslim community and changing how they are viewed.
The club's Foundation recently hosted a Premier League Kicks football tournament at the recent Batley Gala in the Yorkshire town, aiming to tackle barriers of deprivation and crime rates through activities which promote social cohesion.
"There is a perception that the Muslim community have little room for sporting activities due to our faiths," Mr S Patel, a teacher at Madressa Mahmoodia Batley, told the club's official website.
"However, this football tournament allowed the children to express their love for football while socialising with other young people from other mosques.
"Every child played with a smile on their face and no matter if they won or lost, they all had fun."
Teams from local Madressas and Mosques entered the competitive tournament in three age groups. Players learnt the key skills of discipline, resilience and communication needed to be part of a team.
PL Kicks started in 2006 and uses the power of football to help youngsters in some of the most high-need areas, promoting integration and championing equality, diversity and inclusion.
Huddersfield Town Foundation run 15 PL Kicks sessions and are aiming to engage 1,000 young people this season.
