It is seven years to the day since Jan Vertonghen swapped the Netherlands for north London and signed for Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League.

Ever since his switch from Ajax, the 32-year-old centre-back's commanding defensive ability and excellent range of passing have graced the competition.

Vertonghen has 209 Premier League appearances to his name, including 119 wins, five goals and 68 clean sheets, and helped Spurs reach the UEFA Champions League final last term.

The 2019/20 season will be his eighth with Spurs whose first match is at home to Aston Villa on Saturday 10 August.
