Crystal Palace have completed the signing of goalkeeper Stephen Henderson on a season-long deal.

The 31-year-old joins the club as a free agent following a recent spell at Nottingham Forest, and loans at Portsmouth and Wycombe Wanderers.

"It's a privileged position so I’m delighted to get it over the line," Henderson told Crystal Palace's official website.

"I spoke to Dean Kiely and he said, 'Do you fancy coming in and having the opportunity to work with the lads?' Obviously, it's a no-brainer and I jumped at the opportunity.

"The goalkeepers are at a very high standard which is what I expected so I'm just going to take it all in and learn from them and try to support them as best I can. Just seeing this morning on my first day, the standards are what I expected from two top Premier League goalkeepers."

After starting out in Aston Villa's youth academy, Henderson made his professional debut for Bristol City in 2007 and has since played for West Ham United, Ipswich Town and Charlton Athletic.

The Irishman has travelled to Switzerland with the Crystal Palace squad as they begin their pre-season tour.

The Eagles kick off their Premier League campaign with a home match against Everton on 10 August.
