Eye-catching EFL Cup performances from Erik Lamela (£7.1m) and Christian Eriksen (£8.4m) have handed Mauricio Pochettino a selection headache ahead of Tottenham Hotspur's Gameweek 6 trip to Middlesbrough this weekend.

Benched for Sunday’s home win over Sunderland, Eriksen scored twice in a 5-0 victory over Gillingham on Wednesday night.

Lamela, who has been named as a substitute in each of the last two Gameweeks, produced a goal and three assists against the League One side.

The Argentinian is still owned by 11.2% of Fantasy Premier League managers but has been sold by more than 63,000 heading into Saturday's 11.30am BST Gameweek 6 deadline.

Both Lamela and Eriksen will now push for recalls for the trip to the Riverside Stadium. Striker Vincent Janssen (£7.8m) could also warrant attention after registering a goal and an assist and could earn investment with Harry Kane (£10.9m) out injured.

Elsewhere, Manchester City maintained their 100% record under Pep Guardiola with a 2-1 win at Swansea City.

Gael Clichy (£5.4m) and Aleix Garcia (£5.0m) netted for the visitors before Gylfi Sigurdsson (£7.3m) grabbed a consolation: The Iceland midfielder has now notched twice in his last three matches in all competitions.

Notably, Sergio Aguero (£13.0m) served out his three-match suspension in last night's fixture and is now available for selection as City face the Swans for the second time in quick succession; more than 180,000 FPL managers have drafted in the Argentinian centre-forward this week so far.

Marcus Rashford (£6.8m) was pivotal in Manchester United’s victory over Northampton Town.

With the score all square the 18-year-old emerged from the bench to grab a goal and assist to seal a 3-1 win for Jose Mourinho's side.

Michael Carrick (£4.3m) and Ander Herrera (£6.3m) also found the net, though it is Rashford, who has played a part in four of United’s last six goals, who looks likely to start at home to champions Leicester City on Saturday.

Charlie Austin (£6.2m) took his tally to four goals in three appearances by claiming the opener in Southampton’s 2-0 triumph over Crystal Palace.

Having started only once in the Premier League this season Austin now looks set to seal a starting berth for this weekend’s trip to West Ham United, meaning Shane Long (£6.2m) could miss out.

Palace, meanwhile, are sweating over the fitness of Scott Dann (£5.5m) after the centre-half limped off early at St Mary’s.

Dann has scored twice in the opening five Gameweeks and has produced more attempts (10) and efforts from inside the box (nine) than any defender this season.

West Ham United progressed thanks to a stoppage-time winner from Dimitri Payet (£9.4m).

The Frenchman came to the rescue against Accrington Stanley with a trademark long-range free-kick, continuing his fine form since returning from injury.

Despite his midweek heroics only 18,000 FPL managers have transferred in Dimitri Payet so far this week

Payet has now produced a goal and four assists in his last three appearances, yet has been snapped up by only 18,000 FPL managers so far this week.

Marko Arnautovic (£7.3m) netted for the second successive match as Stoke City prepare for a home meeting with West Bromwich Albion.

The Potters fell to a 2-1 home defeat at the hands of Hull City on Wednesday night, however, with recent Tigers signings Ryan Mason (£4.9m) and Markus Henriksen (£5.4m) on the scoresheet.

Sunderland defender Paddy McNair (£4.4m) benefitted from a shift into midfield by scoring twice in a 2-1 win over Queens Park Rangers.

The FPL Gameweek 6 deadline is at 11.30am BST Saturday 24 September
