After becoming only the third player to appear in 600 Premier League matches, Gareth Barry believes he can become the all-time leading appearance-maker in the competition.
The Everton midfielder reached the milestone on Saturday, marking the occasion with a goal as the Blues overcame Middlesbrough 3-1 at Goodison Park.
But he is now eyeing Ryan Giggs' record of 632 PL appearances.
To beat the Welshman's tally this season Barry, who is just nine shy of Frank Lampard's appearance total, would have to play all of Everton's remaining league matches but the 35-year old, who made his debut in the top flight for Aston Villa in 1998 and also helped Manchester City win the 2011/12 Premier League title, is ruling nothing out.
"That will be some going to play every game this season," he told evertonfc.com. "I'm not sure that's going to be possible. But, you know, why not? There's 33 left, it's a little target.
"If the team keeps winning then I'm sure the manager will keep the same team."
