Club reports

Luton Town got their first Premier League win as they beat Everton 2-1 at Goodison Park.

Tom Lockyer put Luton ahead in the 24th minute as he blocked Abdoulaye Doucoure’s clearance into the net.

Carlton Morris scored his third league goal of the season eight minutes later as he cleverly converted Alfie Doughty’s cross.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin pulled a goal back for Everton on the stroke of half-time as he was on hand to score from close range.

Substitute Beto came closest to a Toffees equaliser in the second half, but his header looped over Thomas Kaminski’s crossbar as Luton hung on to climb to 17th with four points.

They are a place below Everton, who were watched in the stands by prospective owners, 777 Partners.

What the managers said

Sean Dyche: “I must give credit to Luton. They worked hard constantly, and they get the ball forward. They work off set-pieces, and they did that well today, so credit to them.

“It’s not a terrible performance. You look at the stats, and it’s a dominant performance in many ways, but it’s a team mentality. It’s a killer instinct that teams have. When we come away from that, we don’t look as potent, and we don’t look as strong." See more

Rob Edwards: "I’m very proud and really pleased. I want to dedicate this win to Mark Ledsom and his family. We lost him and it’s been difficult for a lot of people at the club, and of course his family, so I want to send our love and best wishes to them at this really difficult time. It’s times like this when you realise that football, of course is important, but nothing is more important than family and health.

"After that, I’m really proud of the players, really proud of our supporters today, our board and really pleased for them. But we’ve all got to recognise that it’s just three points, it’s just a win." See more
