    MAN OF THE MATCH?

    Club reports

Jacob Bruun Larsen came off the bench to score a stunning late winner just 66 seconds after Luton Town’s equaliser as Burnley earned their first Premier League win of the season.

The Clarets took the lead just before half-time through Lyle Foster, who returned from a three-match ban to score his third goal of the season.

And although the hosts got an 84th-minute equaliser through substitute Elijah Adebayo, Danish winger Bruun Larsen produced an immediate response with a 20-yard curler that takes Burnley level with Luton on four points.

While chances were initially hard to come by, Luton lost defender Amari’i Bell to injury in the 21st minute and immediately conceded the first attempt on target as Zeki Amdouni’s near-post header from a corner was tipped over by Thomas Kaminski.

Luton had an encouraging moment at the other end as Chiedozie Ogbene headed wide from Issa Kabore’s cross, but Burnley took a deserved lead in first-half stoppage time.

Two passes through the middle of the pitch dissected Luton’s midfield and defence, with Sander Berge receiving the ball in the centre circle, driving forward and playing in Foster, who ran in behind Tom Lockyer and slotted clinically past Kaminski.

Luton were the better team in the second half and created a series of good chances from high balls into the box.

Jacob Brown had a 64th-minute effort headed off the line by Josh Cullen, while Carlton Morris went close from a corner and Berge headed narrowly wide of his own goal under pressure.

The aerial assault paid off in the 84th minute as Reece Burke headed the ball down to fellow substitute Adebayo, who span cleverly past Ameen Al Dakhil and finished at the near post.

Luton looked set to go three matches unbeaten, and possibly go on to win the match. But instead Burnley hit back in the 85th minute as Bruun Larsen, a summer signing who had come off the bench only 10 minutes earlier, cut inside from the right flank and curled a stunning shot into the top-left corner for his first Premier League goal.

Luton host second-placed Tottenham Hotspur in Saturday’s early kick-off, before Burnley entertain Chelsea at 15:00 BST.

    What the managers said

Rob Edwards: “I’m disappointed with the result, we all down in there. We flat, I'm hurting with the manner and the timing of it.

“They shaded the first half but we adjusted in the second half and then dominated – we had 15 shots inside their box and scored once – that is proving the most difficult at the minute. It is the hardest thing in football." See more

Vincent Kompany: “It feels great. We had to battle for it tonight, but it’s three points in the Premier League and I’m proud of the team tonight.

“I’m really happy for the group, for the fans, the staff and everyone. We knew this team was capable of getting results and it showed tonight.” See more
