MAN OF THE MATCH?

Willock matches Shearer record in Newcastle victory

Joe Willock scored for a seventh consecutive Premier League match as Newcastle United beat Fulham 2-0 at Craven Cottage.

Allan Saint-Maximin forced Fulham goalkeeper Marek Rodak into a fingertip save before Willock broke the deadlock after 23 minutes.

The winger dribbled from within his own half before finding the corner to become just the second Newcastle player to score in seven Premier League matches in a row after Alan Shearer.

Ivan Cavaleiro fired over for Fulham when one-on-one early into the second half while Dwight Gayle missed a good headed chance at the other end.

Substitute Fabian Schar ensured victory two minutes from time, scoring from the penalty spot after Kenny Tete had fouled Matt Ritchie.

Back-to-back victories and clean sheets lift Newcastle to 12th with 45 points.

Relegation Fulham end in 18th with 28 points.
